A large scale mixed use development in Kolkata, located on a 40 acres site and surrounded by a number of constraints that needed overcoming. Given the site constraints and the uncontrolled developments around the site boundaries, we developed an inward looking mixed use township overlooking a large lake and lush landscaped inner court.
The architecture concept of the 9 towers was a direct response to the site constraints and the aim to maximize views from each residential unit without compromising their privacy. To avoid
creating massive walls and dense architecture, we opted for simple forms and clean lines with
undulating positioning of the buildings and the play with variation in building heights. Aluminum screens canopies on roof top are used to give the towers a floating aspect.
In addition to the varying levels of the towers, we used these roof canopies at different levels and angles around the 9 towers to create a wave movement which complement the overall water wave concept. Green design principles are incorporated in every aspects of the design. From
water harvesting, grey water usage, solar panels, reflective glazing, local recyclable materials to indigenous landscaping.
