Education: Alliance Française Thailand

Fenn Designers create the concept for a new Alliance Française education and cultural center is a place which promotes culture and several forms of arts. It provides cultural education and artistic enrichment to its community.
The project comprises of;

Art & Media centre
Teaching centre

Exhibition hall
Auditorium
Administration centre

The project presented a number of constraints and challenges;

In addition to quite extensive end users requirements in relation to the small site area, the
building regulations limit the building to a maximum height of 23 m. and set backs of 12 m. from the main road and 3 m. vis-a-vis other boundaries resulting into a building footprint of 850 m. The architectural concept design presented here is an answer to these
constraints, as well as an optimal orientation of the building in accordance with local climate and a spatial organization which allow flexibility and adaptability of usage.

The spaces were articulated to accommodate the requirements of the end users while dealing with the structural complications of juxtapositioning auditorium, exhibition hall, media rooms, and standard rooms. All creative spaces are flexible and plastic, capable of adapting to change and the rapid evolution of information technology and media. Vertical circulation is centralized to minimise traffic between centres and is used as a light well to the building interiors.
